Compounding Pharmacy Accreditation

Established in 2007 by eight of the nation’s leading pharmacy organizations, Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB) offers the most comprehensive compliance solution in the industry, with standards based on U.S. Pharmacopeia Convention (USP) guidelines. PCAB assesses pharmacies that compound medications whether it be in the retail or hospital setting.

Compounding involves combining and mixing of active and inactive drug ingredients to create a medication specifically for an individual patient based on a prescription order. Extensive on-site surveys conducted by independent experts, along with annual verification, ensures compliance with the non-sterile and sterile pharmacy compounding process as defined by USP <795>, USP <797>, and soon to be USP <800>.

In 2014 PCAB Accreditation became a service of Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). The alignment of these two organizations ensures that safety and compliance needs are met in the most efficient and effective manner. This means that you can feel confident your medications are being made under a stringent set of standards.

PCAB Accreditation, in combination with the Center for Pharmaceutical Compounding’s commitment to continuous compliance, significantly reduces any risk associated with compounding medications. It demonstrates our commitment to meeting the highest industry standards for quality and safety…and our commitment to you!
